Experiences

Mr. Eungtaek Lee joined ACI Law Group, bringing a wealth of experience from his 7-year tenure at Kim & Chang, Korea’s premier law firm, where he worked as a highly accomplished patent attorney specializing in intellectual property law, including patents, designs, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. In particular, he has extensive experience in patent matters across diverse technical fields, including mechanics and electronics such as automotive parts, medical devices, semiconductor manufacturing, robotics, home appliances, software, UI/UX, machine learning, AI, and more.

During his time at Kim & Chang, he managed an extensive portfolio of U.S. patent applications in collaboration with U.S. law firms. His expertise includes drafting both Korean and English patent applications, preparing responses to USPTO Office Actions, handling patent correction and invalidation trials before the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB), and handling patent infringement and invalidation litigations before the Korean Patent Court and the Korean Supreme Court.

Previously, Mr. Lee managed patent prosecution for Korea, PCT, and U.S. patents, as well as trials before IPTAB for LG Electronics at Pax Patent & Law Firm, where he worked for 3 years. He also provided strategic advice on patents, designs, trademarks, and copyrights for a wide range of clients, in addition to handling their prosecutions.

Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Lee worked as an engineer at Samsung C&T Corporation, where he gained valuable technical experience. This engineering background gives him a distinct advantage in IP matters, reinforcing his precise and intuitive ability to understand complex technologies and allowing him to bridge the gap between legal and technical issues seamlessly.

In addition to his technical and legal expertise, Mr. Lee has been actively involved in mentoring patent attorneys through internal seminars. He has also drafted patent licensing agreements and legal opinions on topics such as the patentability of inventions, patent and trade secret infringement and validity, freedom to operate specific technologies, and compensation for employee inventions.
